ROLE: USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER

PROJECT BACKGROUND

BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE FOR MODULAR DATA CENTRE MANUFACTURING COMPANY

SaaS Platform for Streamlining Workflow, Workforce Management, Forecasting, and Data Analytics

During my tenure, our team focused on designing an AI-enabled native SaaS application for Nexa Ltd., a company based in Ireland, with the goal of enhancing workflow efficiency and user experience. We were a team of four — myself as the User Experience Designer, supported by three interns and our manager. I was responsible for conceptualizing the product, conducting usability testing, designing intuitive interfaces, and collaborating with developers for a smooth handoff.

CHALLENGE

Employees at NEXA need to feel more strategic and proactive at work because automation, workflow optimization, and predictive analytics can unlock faster decision-making and drive company-wide productivity.

WHY DESIGNING NEW ONE?

AMONGST PLETHORA OF APPLICATIONS, WHY DESIGNING A NEW ONE?

The cusp of hyper personalization and more efficiency

Business intelligence software helps converting reams of information into bite-sized insights to inform decision-making...holding such importance for the success of the company and involving much to do with 'company data'...having the monetary power to be able to customize an application tailored to their specific needs was the foundation.

CONTEXTUAL UNDERSTANDING

UNDERSTANDING ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE

Everyday looks different than the other! Some days, I was deep in Figma, designing intuitive layouts while sipping coffee. Other days, I was diving into research—chatting with students, staff, and officers to understand how they engage with safety resources. Whether advocating for accessibility, refining designs, or translating stakeholder needs into seamless user experiences, the project kept me on my toes—and I loved every moment!

EMPATHIZING WITH

USER STORIES

"Some parts of my job are manual some are digital, it is voy annoying"

"I want to monitor and analyze operational efficiency, track production metrics, and Identify areas for process Improvement within the organization."

"I need a comprehensive financial reporting tool that enables me to generate detailed financial statements"

"I want to access a user-friendly interface to track POs"

"As a CEO, I need an executive summary dashboard that provides a high-level overview of the company's performance, highlighting critical insights and trends for quick decision-making."

FRAMING USER EXPECTATION THROUGH

THE JOBS TO BE DONE FRAMEWORK

By using the JBTD framework, we aspired to design a more effective and user-friendly experience.
By Identifying the specific jobs that the users are hiring the app to do...

When I have multiple workflows to manage along with multiple ongoing projects?

When I acquire a lot of sellers from different sources?

When I start tracking my finances ?

CORE NEEDS

  • Difficulty in managing various workflows

  • Delegating projects and tasks amongst employees

  • Managing their attendance and payroll

  • Managing client data and their accounts

  • Maintaining records of sellers and the purchase orders for a particular project

ASPIRATIONS

To leverage the capabilities of AI/ML for predictive forecasting and analytics. They recognize the significance of business intelligence software in transforming large volumes of data into easily understandable insights through standard analytics and dashboard reporting.

SYSTEM THINKING APPROCH

ADDRESSING THE PARADIGM SHIFT

FEATURE PRIORTIZATION

KANO MODEL

At this point we came up with a long list of ideas and features that could be implemented and have potential to solve problems. Kano model Helped us determine which features of the app are essential for enhancing the UX of employees and ofcourse from the business perspective.

CONCLUSION

HOW'S THE PRODUCT DOING?

By using the JBTD framework, we aspired to design a more effective and user-friendly experience.
By Identifying the specific jobs that the users are hiring the app to do...

After nearly six months of product usage, our team has found value in the constructive feedback provided by our clients.

Trying to optimize the application to the maximum of ability...Al algorithm becomes better with the data...

Phase 2 of the project is being integrated (Ade. Payroll, real-time analytics, biometric based attendance model and many more features are in pipe-line)
